Mission
Second Chances First, is an ambitious grassroots 501c3 non-profit organization with headquarters in Detroit, MI on a mission to positively affect and uplift valuable people in the community, who are systematically disenfranchised from society as a result of carrying a criminal conviction record. The resounding oppressive effects on individuals and families with a misdemeanor or felony conviction revolve around the issues of fair housing access, background check employability, and mental and emotional health resource disenfranchisement due to their criminal conviction record.
Vision
Second Chances First is a voice and great restorative resource devoted to guiding and strengthening worthy community members who are stifled in securing and maintaining fair access to the basic necessities of life; housing and employment. We will advocate with great passion literacy on the legislative impact on the civil rights of persons who have satisfied their legal restitution requirements, yet are fighting barriers that persist even after the state government concludes that the "debt to society has been paid.”
